Primary
The National Curriculum for England begins around the age of five years.
At CISG we base the school curriculum on the British methodology, structuring that which we care on the Bristish curriculum especially Maths/English/Science/ICT with Social Studies being a combination of subjects from the British curriculum.
The child's progress is closely monitored and assessed against appropriate age-performance standards. Encouragement and help is provided for children to attain their full potential. Focused on whole-child development, proper attention is given to the social development, skills, knowledge and understanding that children need to interact efficiently, in a complex and changing world.
Our aim is that by the end of Year 2, all students will have developed social skills, a love of learning, will be able to read and write and use simple mathematics at a level appropriate for their age. From Year 1, the subjects taught include English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Physical Education, Art, Social Studies and Arabic. The English literacy and numeracy strategies are also followed. For many of our students, English is a second language but teachers take care to meet each student's learning needs through differentiated skills groups.
The Primary School programme follows Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum for England and continues to build on the foundations that are established in the Infant School.
Ongoing assessment ensures that each child's development is continuous and meets predetermined standards. We encourage students to think independently, use their initiative and to participate in a meaningful and active manner in the learning process.
The core academic curriculum includes instruction in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and ICT. For many of our students, English is a second language but teachers take care to meet each student's learning needs through differentiated skills groups. Every student studies Arabic,Islamic Studies and Qatar History at a level appropriate to their language experience. The overall educational experience is enhanced and supplemented with instruction in Art, Music, Physical Education and Islamic Studies.
A selection of Extra-Curricular Activities broadens opportunities for students to enhance their natural abilities or to challenge themselves through development of new interest areas. Extra-curricular activities may include drama, art and design, a variety of sports activities and a number of school clubs.
Students learn how to master the practical use and application of Information Communication Technology, both as an individual subject area and through the integration of ICT throughout the curriculum as both teaching and learning resources. Students learn how to research, organise data and communicate through the use of ICT.
By the end of Year 6, our aim is that all students will have gained a well-rounded education. They will have matured through understanding and character development, have developed articulate expression and confidence and will be well prepared for their Secondary education.
