Primary School
In the Primary School, boys and girls in Years 1 to 4 (age 5 to 9 years) study a curriculum based on The National Curriculum for England, delivered using interactive teaching methods which aim to develop academic skills, literacy, numeracy, oracy, as well as building self-confidence, self-esteem, social skills and a love of learning.
The National Curriculum for England starts in Year 1 of the Primary School and continues as the student progresses through the primary and secondary phases of education. We teach through the medium of English, with Arabic as the language of instruction in Arabic and Islamic Studies lessons.
Because our Secondary School is for girls only, the boys transfer after Year 4 to the Secondary School at our partner school, The Cambridge School, which shares the same curriculum as CISG.
Our Vision
We aim to help our students leave CISG with an awareness of tradition, valuing the importance of leadership and world citizenship and having a strong sense of community. We trust that they will all carry with them a vision for the future, becoming productive and worthwhile members of society.
Active learning
The teaching style at CISG is interactive, placing responsibility on the student to be an active learner through participating in class, asking and answering questions, carrying out tasks individually or within a pair or group, and carrying out independent work at home through homework activities. Through differentiated teaching approaches, we aim to ensure that students of all abilities have the best opportunities to learn and achieve their individual potential.
Curriculum
The curriculum is broad and balanced to meet the needs of students in a rapidly changing world. The subjects included in the curriculum are Maths, Arabic, English, Science, ICT, Social Studies, Islamic Studies and Qatar History together with subsidiary subjects - Music, PE, Art and French. PE, which includes swimming, is an important aspect of the curriculum in which all students are expected to participate actively.
Within the taught curriculum, we arrange field trips and other activities and events that enrich the child's experience of learning. As part of the overall curriculum, we offer a programme of Extra Curricular Activities to enhance the child's education.
